From the Field:
If you visited the Overseas Passenger Terminal at any point last week, you would have witnessed a relatively new urban ritual taking place. Street photographers and bloggers swarmed the veritable playground of editors, buyers and the cream of the fashion world's uber cool crop.

So while they were all busy photographing others, I was inconspicuously photographing the bloggeristic phenomena.

So I'm going to be honest, unless you're blog is being read by more than 400 people (and even then..) RAFW can be tough.
Whilst by the end of the week I was at dinner with what could actually be a group of Australia's most successful bloggers, and EVEN THOUGH almost all of them are extremely sweet (Zanita comes across as really down to earth and wise, Nicole is a sweet heart)
there is an element of clique-ness that is slightly reminiscent of the popular girls at school.
And I sure as hell was not in that group.
I did make loads of contacts and friends with the awesome group of photographers in the media pit who just completely took me under their wings for the week. I love that and appreciate it more than words and will definitely (humbly) pay it forward.

I guess for me- the entire week I just kept thinking about how much I wanted to report back to you guys so I could share this experience with you.

  2. Ok guys- blogger won't let me edit the post but just to clarify, XSSAT contacted me on twitter and she isn't any of the people... especially not number 7 considering the gender discrepancy.
For some BIZARRO reason that guy with the zig-zag shaved head gave me XSSAT business card and said 'this is our blog'.

So you see, that's the confusion.

  3. Great photos my dear, and interesting perspective. I guess your observation about the cliquey-ness does ring true, but it's easily the most welcoming clique I've come across. And you are def part of the crew!

The whole street style phenomenon did seem pretty out of control though. As someone who purposefully hunts down stylish individuals, I didn't feel my shots from last week were as special considering everyone else has the some ones (albeit from another angle).

Amazing week though, you were the best bit!

  7. Hey doll!

Great work! Lovely meeting you too :)

Dude with the zigzag 'do (pic #7) is Jesse (http://j-dawgworld.com) - amongst the craziness of RAFW and the many mixed business cards may have handed the wrong one?

See you again on the fashion circuit!

    Micah (pic #10 & #11) xx

  10. Sounds like you had an amazing time, I can only imagine the clique vibe that must go on. I'm guessing it could get pretty nasty/bitchy.
